First Outing of 2016

Yesterday after work I promptly left town for a roughly two-day trip to Austin and then to Yoakum.  Both my brother and I wanted to surprise our Mom for Mother's Day, and to spend the day visiting with her.  I arrived in Austin before my favorite cigar shop closed.  After purchasing two cigars, I met one of my best friends at Genuine Joe Coffee House.  I hadn't seen or visited with him since we all went camping about a year and a half ago.  Upon the conclusion of our time of fellowship, I headed to my brother's apartment in order to drop off the bicycle I had for him.  Yes, I have a new convert to the art and fun of bicycling.  Then, I ended up getting a room at the Super 8 Motel I normally stay at while in Austin.  As much as I wanted to go the distance in regard to my travels, I knew physically and mentally I was in no condition to drive the remaining hour and a half distance to Yoakum.  Thank God I did, because I gained a wonderful night's sleep of rest.  By a few minutes before eight o'clock this morning, I left Austin for Yoakum and arrived about fifteen minutes to 10 a.m.  Mom and I have been enjoying each other's company, even playing a game of Scrabble.  As she had the previous few games over the Christmas holidays, she clobbered me.  Talk about a humbling experience!  A few minutes ago, roughly 5:30 p.m., my brother arrived from Austin.  This completes the gift of Mom's two sons honoring her for Mother's Day.  Travelling out of town for this holiday weekend was a great excuse to get out of town for a few days.  I was getting anxious for a break from life in Fort Worth.  This purpose serves multiple purposes, and I am glad there was time to get away.  For those who are mothers, enjoy your special day.
