Bike to School Day

As a bicyclist, I couldn't allow this obscure holiday to pass me by.  Even though I'm not enrolled in a school of any kind, except for the school of life, I still thought today would be a great opportunity to fan the flames of passion for bicycling.  Whether it's riding to school, work, or simply through the neighborhood for a bit of exercise, bicycling is a great way to go green for the environment.  Plus, as I lightly touched on a few sentences ago, bicycling is a great avenue for exercise.  Besides all this, the month of May is Bicycle Awareness Month.  (More about this in future posts.)  Bicycling does not cause nasty emissions through a tailpipe, nor does it foster laziness as the "engine" of the bicycle's speed is through pedaling.  One does not have to be in shape to begin bicycling, but before long the body of the cycling practitioner will slowly show signs of decreased weight and increased cardio-vascular fitness.  Upon first moving to Fort Worth, my bicycle was the only form of transportation I had, and I utilized it to the fullest.  Now I am blessed with a vehicle and don't ride my bicycle as often as I would like.  However, lately I have been riding a lot more than normal.  Even with the blessing of a vehicle, I still try to ride my bicycle for at least thirty minutes or more a few times a week.  The art and passion of cycling is fun and allows for a great time of fellowship when performed in groups.  On Sunday and Wednesday evenings, the Night Riders of Fort Worth fosters such fellowship.  Begin bicycling today, and you will experience the joy of the outdoors.  Keep riding!
