December 1st!
The first day of the last month of the year is upon me. Oh my how time flies! Cold weather, minus any precipitation, is my kind of weather. Mix it with rain, ice, or snow, and I must say, "Yuck!" I believe the colder temperatures are better because I can always add more layers of clothing, but I can't always take off more clothing when it is warm or hot. (Ha ha! Intended to be humorous.) Last night at the weekly men's group, I touched on how much life is like a vapor or passing mist burned off by the heat of the sun. If this earthly life is all I have, then the Apostle Paul was right in that I (the human race) is much to be pitied. The old proverb would then be correct, "Eat and drink for tomorrow we may die." However, for those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, we have an eternity to look forward too. Given the charge of glorifying God the Father, we use the gifts, skills, and abilities for sowing seeds for eternal rewards. The payoff was never intended for this physical, ethereal life. I am simply a pilgrim sojourning on this planet for a short time. What I make of this time on earth counts significantly toward eternity. What will your payoff look like? Short-term pleasure for a few meager years? Or dividends paying off for eternity? Keep your focus and vision on the long-term. Don't find out what this life is all about before it is too late. What are you doing with your time? How are you spending it? The clock is ticking.
