Thrift Store Shopping

Since moving to Fort Worth I have become a thrift store junkie.  I am amazed at what I can find at a Goodwill or Salvation Army store.  Of course great deals aren't limited to these types of retailers.  Estate and garage sales can offer great treasures if I'm willing to look diligently and on a regularly basis.  The key is to frequent these sort of establishments often, as much as several times a week.  A tough lesson learned over the weekend is to not put off purchasing a treasure upon finding it.  Thinking the good stuff will remain till the next day when all merchandise is 50% off is a mistake.  Certainly using discretion is a must as the purpose of shopping at thrift stores is to save money.  (I'm not advocating spending money when extra money may be saved by waiting, but sometimes opportunities are once in a lifetime.  Capitalize on them immediately.)  Last night I found three beautiful coffee mugs highlight various cities across the United States.  In addition I purchased two beer pint glasses, one of which was my all-time favorite beer.  Great finds are ready to be discovered if I'm willing to check the stores periodically.  (Those glassware items weren't there the day before when I was shopping at the Goodwill store.)  This morning I am planning to check out a thrift store on the Airport Highway in Fort Worth.  It is Cornerstone Thrift Store, and I don't ordinarily shop there simply because it is off the beaten path.  Maybe I can find a few Christmas presents for the family.  It is hard to believe the holiday season is approaching so quickly.  I strongly encourage everyone to shop at thrift stores.  Many operate for a worthy cause.  Happy shopping!
