National Book Lover's Day!

As you can probably tell, I'm really getting in to these obscure holidays you won't find on most calendars.  Today is National Book Lover's Day.  Yes, books are near and dear to my heart as I am very much a bibliophile.  To clear the air on what a bibliophile is, the following definition from the dictionary is: a person who collect or has a great love of books.  Guilty as charged!  In fact, you ought to see the impressive library I have housed in my apartment (place of residence).  Personally I don't strive for first editions or absolutely pristine condition books, but as long as the books are in great shape I'll order it to add to my collection.  Much of my collection falls under three categories: spiritual, history, and classic literature.  Those three categories may seem broad in nature, but I do have certain criteria within those areas of interest.  Among the most recent books I have read are: The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, Harry & Ike by Steve Neal, and Every Man's Battle by Stephen Arterburn.  Right now I am reading The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren.  Roughly half of the books I own have been read, while the other half remain to be read.  Books allow me to escape to another world transcendent from this one.  Readers usually have greater vocabularies and usually make better writers and leaders.  I strongly encourage each of my readers to begin reading.  There are so many benefits to this lost art.  One regret I have in life is not reading to my brother when he was a baby growing up in life.  As a result, he is not much of a reader.  It breaks my heart!  Libraries are great resources for other worlds and adventures not available in this realm.  In addition, thrift stores and resale shops are treasure troves in acquiring books inexpensively.  If you have any questions on what to read, please don't hesitate to ask.  I am always available to recommend a great book.  Also, please check out www.goodreads.com.  This is a great community of readers who are bibliophiles as well.  Get in to this lost art and find new adventures between the pages of a great book.  Happy reading!
