Light at the End of the Tunnel
Today, of course, is October 1st! As I enter the last quarter of the year, I usually begin reflecting on the time spent thus far. Once again, most of my goals have not been met, but I see a few that have. One goal was to achieve better or at least additional employment. My day job, as I so lovingly call it, is working for TNG. This company has provided stability through steady shifts and a regular paycheck. Then, I began working two jobs by returning to the smoke shop part-time. Yes, working both jobs is wearing me out, but thankfully I have been afforded the opportunity to save up quite a bit of money. My definition of success is rather selfish, and it is defined as: money, material possessions, and a form of celebrity status or fame. Unfortunately this is also a part of the world's definition of ultimate accomplishment. Sometimes I wonder what sort of impact I have or had on people. Is my time and energy invested in others what truly matters in life? The other stuff, and it is exactly that...stuff, helps, but it isn't what really matters. People reaching and living out there God given potential according to their gifting(s), is really where life counts significantly. As I make the transition from one definition of success to the other, I often get discouraged. Whenever I get to that point, I listen to the ending scene of the movie Mr. Holland's Opus. Included in this post is the very excerpt of the movie I am referencing. Watch it, and you too may find a new purpose and the uplifting of your attitude to continue forward living this wonderful life I have been so blessed to lead. Happy October 1st!
