Best Friends Day

Friendship has three levels: core group, inner-circle, and outer-circle.  The outer-circle are typically people who I run in to frequently or are acquaintances of sorts.  No real intimacy exists or trust of personal information is given to these people.  The inner-circle contain people who I can count on in times of need or celebration.  Some testing of the friendship may have occurred, but in this circle we all have solidified our friendship to one another.  The core group is the inner-sanctum of life.  Friendship in this category transcends to the level of brotherhood.  Also worth noting is the quantity of people in each circle.  My personal core group of friendship only contains three other people.  Together we have each passed through the fire of life together, seen each other grow and evolve, celebrated our triumphs, and helped shoulder the burden of one another's sorrow and defeats.  Often I hear the statistics concerning friendship, that most people are considered lucky to have one, maybe two, best friends.  I am very fortunate and blessed to have three best friends.  What have I done to deserve or become worthy of such a blessing?  Or should I call it grace and mercy to be blessed in such a way?  Grace is better because I have not deserved the unmerited favor, other than to show myself as a friend in return.  But maybe that's exactly it...I must offer myself to friendship to have friends.  Today is best friends day, and I hereby honor the best Best Friends I could ever have.
