New Year's Day

Hello 2017!  A new year is upon me, how will I spend it?  Will I use the time given for God's glory, or will I allow it to slip away in laziness?  So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.  (I Corinthians 10:31)  This is the short answer to the question of what is God's directive for our lives.  I honestly don't believe God has a specific vocational calling on our lives; for example, to become a doctor, lawyer, minister, or etc.  Of course He imparts giftings, skills, and abilities in each of our lives and expects us to use those accordingly.  (See the Parable of the Talents in the Bible.)  In between and throughout all that, I am held accountable to glorify God in all I do.  Each moment of every day for this new year is a great opportunity to do exactly that...to model the life of the Lord Jesus Christ in everything I do.  The Holy Spirit is with and in me to help point us and others back to God.  There is no good, ethical, or moral life apart from the Living God.  Don't think you can do it on your own.  The challenge is in how you plan to spend the new year.  Happy 2017!
