Hidden Treasures

I'm in to the fourth week of trying to get over this burdensome cold.  Thankfully, I feel a lot better, but I still have a lingering cough.  This morning I thought it would get the best of me while at work.  After persevering, I made it through the day with the hope I will completely get well soon.  In lieu of exercising at the gym, due to my cough, I decided to take a leisurely bicycle ride through the neighborhood.  There were several places I wanted to visit and possibly take a few pictures.  I was in store for a surprise as I stumbled across a community garden located near a city park.  What a discovery!  Maybe I'm naive and out of touch with the rest of the world, but I didn't realize these type things existed anymore.  Do you remember the victory gardens prevalent during the wars in the early part of the twentieth century?  This community garden sort of reminded me of those.  I was impressed with the facilities for composting and the available faucets for watering.  Whoever designed this garden seemed to know what they were doing.  Again, I was impressed!  Both to and from the apartment, I also felt at home as families all waved a welcoming hello.  Maybe this neighborhood is truly a community, along with the corresponding garden.  Hmm!  What else is out there I'm missing?  I should explore the neighborhoods more often.
