National Hangover Day
For many people celebrating the incoming New Year, this obscure holiday is appropriately titled. I, for one, don't miss those days of debauchery and inebriation. Hangovers? No longer for me, thank you. In the over nine years since I've had an alcoholic beverage, I enjoy the physical abstinence, along with the mental and emotional sobriety this new way of living brings me. Am I still capable of excessive behavior? Occasionally my emotions will get the upper-hand, but I endeavor to live on an even-keel. This involves balancing life by first thinking, then responding to the external circumstances of life as they are presented. I am human, thus not perfect. More than I care to admit, I do fail in living out this ideal. For those of you suffering from a headache today, try abstaining from alcohol and an unrestrained emotional life, emotions run amok. This lifestyle might surprise you. Until then, enjoy National Hangover Day.
