It's a Draw!

For the first day of July, half the year already gone, it was one of those days I did well to break even.  The good and the bad sat on opposing sides of the equal sign, and everything came out as a wash.  The semi-usual morning bicycle ride produced a lot of great pictures.  Saint Stephen Presbyterian Church was the intended destination, and I surprised myself with the good fortune to discover they were having a garage sale.  Of course I didn't have any cash on me, but that was okay as I didn't find any thing I couldn't live without.  While I was there, I was able to interact with the director of education for the church.  We chatted about the history and present circumstances of this particular body of faith.  This is where the pictures come in to play.  In one of the hallways I found the church had relocated and built the various year's cornerstones directly in to the wall.  One was from 1900, while another was dated 1910.  Around the corner from the building was a labyrinth with a cross and a few memorial park benches at the end of the trail.  A prayer garden, so to speak.  What a great place for a time of meditation and serenity.  Feeling my time was complete by today's historical treasure, I made my way back to the apartment.  Then I called the Microsoft help desk in order to find a solution to the computer issues I had been having.  Apparently I locked myself out as the system administrator, and I couldn't get back in.  Oops!  At first this looked like a nasty nightmare waiting to happen.  Thankfully it didn't turn out near as bad as I thought it would.  I was able to salvage most of the documents and some of the pictures I had on the desktop.  Isn't it strange most tragedies make people plan better?  Instead of becoming pro-active in having an external hard drive at the ready for back up,  I am now looking to purchase one as a result of yesterday's near calamity.  Among the pictures I lost were the ones of yesterday's bicycle ride to Saint Stephen Presbyterian Church.  What a shame, because they were really awesome!  Mom had the right attitude toward the situation.  I can now work toward the project of retaking all the pictures I lost, which is no small feat.  At any rate, I am now glad yesterday is over and I can now enjoy the four-day holiday weekend.  Happy Fourth of July!
