In the Cool of the Morning!

For the second consecutive day, I have taken to the neighborhood on a leisurely bicycle ride.  The morning temperatures have been welcoming of a trip out of doors.  A slight perspiration still built up, but it wasn't the torrential downpour of sweat it could be.  For summer, the temperatures have been pleasant.  Global warming?  Don't insult my intelligence.  (With apologies to the former Vice-President and Nobel Laureate.)  These excursions don't last for more than an hour; however, I do cover quite a bit of territory.  The final destination, before heading back to the apartment, was Wayside Church of God in Christ, located about a block south of Rosedale near Fire Station No. 8.  Even though I didn't see a historical marker, I do believe this church has been designated as a place of significance to the community.  The grounds appear to be regularly maintained, or at least mowed every so often, but the remainder of the building looked in sad shape.  Windows were boarded up, with glass and other debris littered across the landscape.  I haven't quite made up my mind concerning the subject, but there were tell-tale signs of a homeless camp.  Maybe these people are subconsciously seeking refuge in God through camping in the shadow of His Body on earth, the church.  When I endeavor to make these bicycling trips, I don't have a particular destination in mind, but I do have a sense of which direction I want to head.  Hopefully I can keep up these morning rides, because this is about the only form of exercise I get.  If you are a cyclist, begin a habit of getting out in order to know your neighborhood and city.  You will never regret the experience.
