Four-Day Weekend

Most of the time I have three-day weekends off from work, but every fourth week I have a four-day weekend.  This is the fourth week and I'm bored to tears and too broke to do anything.  Sunday brought some amusement when I attended the Amon Carter Museum.  They had a special Polaroid Exhibit, and I very much wanted to see it.  (The museum is free to the public and very well-worth a visit.)  To occupy my time this morning, I did take a bicycle ride through the neighborhood while the day was still cool.  Then I tried a different place for lunch, the Mellow Mushroom on Bluebonnet Circle off University Drive.  The food was good, the service exceptional, and the prices were reasonable.  Afterward, I quickly headed to Buon Giorno for my usual cup of Earl Grey hot tea.  The staff is so nice and accommodating.  Currently I'm trying to work through Charles Dickens' novel Hard Times.  Not sure if it's me or the book, but my attention span hasn't been hooked yet.  I find myself struggling to truly capture the story line on the page.  A few years ago I made an attempt at reading this book, but I quickly put it down figuring the time to read it wasn't right.  Now I desire to finally power through the novel once and for all.  After only a few chapters, I am not in it far enough to render judgment.  I'll give it some more time.  Whatever the verdict is, I am bound and determined to finish the book at this point.  As the day wears onward, I'm about to light up a cigar before spending the remainder of the day reading.  If nothing else, I'm getting all the rest and relaxation I need.  To those who are actively engaging life, good for you!  Maybe one day I'll catch up.  Have a great Monday!
