Museum Lover's Day

These obscure holidays are great!  I absolutely love museums, especially free ones like the Amon Carter.  There is a billboard on University Drive that always advertises the current exhibit, and I attend the museum whenever I get the chance.  Last January I attended the Holocaust Museum in Dallas.  It is located near Dealey Plaza and the site of John F. Kennedy's assassination.  Unless you know it is there, the museum is very hard to miss.  In fact, I was standing right in front of the Holocaust Museum and didn't even know it.  Thankfully, however, there is a small conspicuous sign indicating such.  Unfortunately, I couldn't take pictures once inside the place, but I very much enjoyed the visit.  If you haven't ever been, it is well worth the trip to Dallas.  The Holocaust Museum is located near several sites of historical significance, including Founder's Plaza.  A log cabin of one of the county's and city's founders was moved to the site as a tribute to our heritage.  Within a few city blocks are also several great places to eat, including the Spaghetti Warehouse.  Overall, the Historic West End of Dallas is well worth multiple visits.  Fort Worth has a lot of museums, many of which I have frequented with family and friends, places such as: the Kimbell Art Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Cowboy and Cowgirl Hall of Fame, the Natural Science Museum, and so many more.  Surprisingly, in spite of my dislike of living here, I do enjoy the art and culture the city offers.  Museums are personally enriching, I can't imagine life without them.  Please visit a museum as you will be glad you did.
