Unusual Pleasure

The beginning of the first of three days off, and I decided to perform something rather unusual.  I went to the movie theatre by myself.  Yes, yours truly went on an outing solo.  Back in the day, when I was full of life and adventurous vigor, I wouldn't think twice about checking in to an activity or function by myself.  Today, this is rare form.  Much of my drive for life has disappeared entirely, so for me to venture out, even with friends, is highly unlikely.  What prompted me to do so this evening, is anyone's guess, but I especially wanted to watch the new Star Wars movie that debuted yesterday.  Maybe this was the impetus enough to overcome the overrated feeling I get when dealing with going out in public.  Sometimes I think interacting socially would be easier with a date or a friend, but I think that is simply an excuse to hide behind.  I say excuse because I don't have any real friends in Fort Worth.  Many say they are my friend, but where are they when I ask a favor.  That is a moot point for the purpose of this entry.  At any rate, maybe I will make solo outings the new norm for my life in exile.  I did have fun and would like to experience this again.  Is it egotistical to say I am my own best company?  While you're thinking about the answer to that question, go see the new Star Wars movie.  You'll be glad you did.
