Multi-Faceted Merchandiser
For roughly eight months I have been a merchandiser with TNG (formerly The News Group). During that time, I have slowly been entrusted with more responsibility and an ever-increasing workload. Along with the increased work load, the accompanying frustrations have amplified to an almost deafening level. In trying to process all that is happening, one conclusion I have reached is the supervisor has really come to a place of dependence on me as a loyal, hard-worker. The negative aspect of this indirect compliment, is I continually feel as if I am taken advantage of and dumped on. Overall, I realize this is a time of growth in the refiner's fire. I am in the midst of getting shaped and molded to become a better person. Of course, in real life, people really do get taken advantage of; however, I perceive this really isn't the case here, as much as it appears to be to the contrary. Throughout my day I do have times of oasis, a place I can work my craft and re-center what is happening around me. One such place is the Kroger stores I service for multiple companies, such as: Nestle, Culligan, and ReaderLink. Theoretically, if I've serviced one store, then I've serviced them all. In practicum, each and every store has its own personality. The particular Kroger's store I'm in the most often is located on the corner of Camp Bowie West and Loop I-820. On average I am in that store as much as four times a week, occasionally five times. Acquaintances have been made, and we have grown comfortable enough with one another to cut up and joke. This can be said and holds true with most of the stores I visit for TNG. The position as a merchandiser is pulling together years of management and retail experience in to one multi-faceted job. Hopefully I'll get through the frustrations, and eventually the work schedule returns to somewhat of a normal Monday through Friday routine. Until then, I must work through, both physically and mentally, the demands placed upon me. Pray for me.
