Hot Enough For Ya Day
These obscure holidays are getting better and better. Today's holiday is very appropriate for a Texas summer; however, the temperatures haven't reached their full potential. After a very mild winter, even for Texas, I figured the summer would be a scorcher. Thankfully the temperatures and humidity haven't been all that bad. All those years I lived in Houston, maybe I grew accustomed to the heat and humidity, but Fort Worth can get hot as well. For the first five years of residence here, I lived in housing that did not have central air condition and heat. As a result, I had to depend on fans and heaters as the seasons dictated. Now I am blessed with an apartment that has both, and I use them when appropriate but certainly not in a wasteful manner. The question is very timely, "Is it hot enough for you?" Yes it is, but it could definitely become worse...and I've seen both extremes in temperatures. Of course there are hotter places, but I'm content with the weather as seen in Fort Worth. The ideal climate hearkens memories of the two years I lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Living there the main extreme in temperature was usually seen during the winter months, but I do recall a week in particular I said to myself, "It's actually getting kind of hot around here!" And that was it. The weather was a dry but cool heat, mainly due to life in the mountains. Oh, what a life! I'd almost give anything to live in or around those parts again. Maybe it's the adventurous nature coming out in me. In any and all spare time I had, could be found spent in hiking and camping in God's beautiful creation. I better quit the reminiscing before I get heartsick for those good ol' times. Anyway, enjoy the special holiday. Is it hot enough for ya?
