Time To Myself

For the second Monday in a row, I've had the day off from work.  It looks as if this will become the pattern from now on.  Regardless of which day of the week this falls on, I am very grateful for a reprieve from work obligations.  As much fun and enjoyment I get out of the bagel shop, I do still need time to myself for personal chores, errands, and much-needed rest and relaxation.  Simply put, I need at least one day a week when I don't have to think about the J-O-B.  First and foremost, I gained some physical sleep and refreshment.  Having gone to bed at 6:30 p.m. the day before, I slept in till roughly seven o'clock this morning.  Upon getting up for the day, I wasted no time in getting ready for a few errands.  By a few minutes of eight o'clock, I was at the clinic in order to take care of a standing order for lab work.  Thankfully, the wait was very long, and the procedure probably took less than ten minutes.  Once back on my way to other endeavors, I drove to the mechanic at a few minutes after nine o'clock for a desperately needed oil change.  I had been trying to get this accomplished since last week.  This isn't a complaint as my mechanic is a one-man show and the only one in whom I trust to work on my vehicle; however, I think he could sense the urgency of the task and promptly took care of the matter.  Feeling a streak of productivity in my bones, I took care of rearranging the furniture in the apartment.  I've been brainstorming about this task for a few days and finally turned this in to reality.  (Yes, I also decided to get rid of some furniture.)  At 12:30 p.m., I met a friend at Twin Peaks restaurant.  We had been trying to get together for a time of fellowship for quite a while, and today was the day to finally meet.  The day probably doesn't seem like a day off with all the running around I have been doing, but I am relieved to have knocked out a few important tasks.  Now I am back at the apartment to unwind and smoke a pipe.  Today has been a good one.  Thank you Father God for your many blessings.  I look forward to seeing your handiwork in the days to come.
