First Outing
Over three months into the new year I'm finally getting able to leave Fort Worth for a few days. Even the simple prospect of leaving town does wonders for my psyche, and will only intensify once I cross the city limits of this urban area. I am blessed for the opportunity to spend two glorious days in Austin, Texas. During the course of the previous few months I've been able to finally grow to like Fort Worth, which is something I couldn't honestly admit too a few months or a year ago. In spite of stating such, I do look forward too and relish the chance to transcend the normal routine of life by getting away. Even Jesus, the perfect God-Man, had to seek relief from this bodily shell, from the brutal reality of life here on Earth. Matthew 17:1-2 state,
"After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John the brother of James,
and led them up a high mountain by themselves.
There he was transfigured before them.
His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.
Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.
On the human level, nothing I do can compare with the transfiguration. But I can take a few days here and there for relaxation and true rest. If I don't, burn-out and inadvertent self-deprecation will inevitably take place. This happened to the Prophet Elijah. 1 Kings 17:2-5 states: Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah:
"Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan.
You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food. there."
So he did what the Lord had told him.
He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there.
The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening,
and he drank from the brook.
In all avenues and areas of life, God Almighty provides. Maybe this trip was the provision of the Lord. I believe so. Thank you God for taking care of me by providing a time of rest and rejuvenation.
