You're Fired!!

At 12:34 p.m. yesterday afternoon, I was summarily fired from Paladin Cigars.  Almost from day one, there had been a running issue between the owner and myself.  What was the issue?  Well, that's no easy answer.  For almost a year now, another customer has wormed his way in to the owner's confidence, making himself seemingly indispensable.  Since the customer in question has been out of work, the owner of the cigar shop "hired" him as a consultant of sorts.  (Keep in mind the customer is a very obese individual who is probably unemployable due to his health liability.)  To top it all off, the customer is offering his "consulting" services gratis (free of charge).  The owners freely confess the new consultant does not work for the store; however, the consultant continually emanates that vibe to the point most people are mislead in to believing he works directly for the shop.  He has gone full throttle in establishing is "authority" by hanging out at the shop for five plus days (well over forty hours) a week.  This in itself is amazing as I wish I didn't have to work for a living.  Even if I didn't, I sure wouldn't invest all my time at a cigar shop.  (Maybe a day or two a week, but not every day!)  The issue between the owner and me finally came to a head on Saturday.  I sent a text message asking the owner to decide who he would rather have in his corner, professionally speaking.  Well, I lost that challenge.  Quite truthfully, I wasn't a very good fit for the store from the very start.  The reason why I stuck around was because it was cash money I didn't have to report to the government.  At any rate, the nightmare is over, and I can now move on.  Who knows where I will land up, but I will definitely take some quality time for myself in the interim.
