Week in Review
What a week I had!! On Monday, July 9th, I started a new job at The Walking Company in NorthPark Center, Dallas, Texas. As excited as I am to make a return to the shoe business, I was exhausted by the time Friday rolled around. I worked my ass off during this first week. Yes, I have been out of the shoe business for nearly twelve years, but not a whole lot has changed. Old shoe dogs, like myself, may be a dying breed, but people will always need shoes. Over the next few weeks, I will continue having to adjust to a new job, acclimating myself to new surroundings, meeting people working at the other stores, and so much more. The commute will also remain a challenge considering my small bladder. Mother Nature strikes at the oddest moments, regardless if I relieved myself before leaving work or home. Thankfully I am a man and can re-purpose empty water bottles. (Was that too much information? Needless to say, the re-purposed water bottles aren't empty for very long. Ha ha!) In the end, I am remaining optimistic about the future working for this particular shoe store. Yes, the future is bright as I can feel confident about myself and the new form of employment I've taken on. Selling shoes seems so much more glamorous than baking bagels at Einstein Bros. Bagels. However, I am thankful for the blessing God provided during that season of my life. Today was a day off for me, and I sorely needed it. Unfortunately, I did have quite a few chores and errands to take care of, but I also allowed for times of rest and relaxation. Three hours were spent over a good smoke at Paladin Cigars. The fellowship was blissful as the guys and I engaged in meaningful conversation. Another concern of the week was the nature and state of my back. From previous blog entries, you may remember I have muscle spasms in my lower back. The adjustment to a new job only aggravated the issue. However, I am hoping and praying for healing from the Ultimate Physician, Almighty God. We will see what the next week has in store for yours truly. Until then, I am experiencing joy from all that God has provided.
