Happy New Year!

As I contemplate what to write, I have finished a salad with Blue Cheese dressing and will now eat a bowl of black-eyed peas, which is supposed to bring good luck for the year.  I don't really believe in that superstition, but it is rather fun to partake in the humor of it all.  Wow, a brand new year!  Years ago I swore off making resolutions or promises to do this or that, but rather a determination to continue pursuing the goals I already have in place.  Some of these include: continuing to work two jobs; paying off debts and saving money; investing in the hobbies of stamp collecting, camping, and reading; to finish painting the apartment; and so much more.  What have you, my blog reader, determined to pursue this brand new year of 2018?  A few bright spots to look forward to include: remaining active in church through their iCampus via the internet, making new acquaintances through that venue, and meeting a whole host of goals the two jobs make financially feasible.  For almost an entire year, I was severely under-employed with few options available to me.  God certainly heard my heart's cry of desperation and answered in His timing.  May I never lose sight of the One who provides, trading the Creator for His creation.  Material success and possessions never satisfy nor fill the God-shaped vacuum (hole) in our hearts.  As 2018 kicks off with a bang, keep your eyes on the prize of Jesus Christ and don't disqualify yourself from finishing the spiritual race that is set before us.  Make the conscious decision to serve Jehovah God each and every day.  Have a blessed new year!
