First of the Month Praise
Today, of course, is October 1st, and it was a very good day! The work shift at Einstein Bros. Bagels ran very smoothly, but everything could have turned sour had my perspective been different. Business was slow; as a result, I took off at 10:30 a.m. instead of 11:30 a.m., which is the normal end time on a Sunday. (Actually, I was scheduled off for 10:30 a.m., but normally it is 11:30 a.m.) Once back at the apartment, I immediately set about performing chores, such as laundry. Other than ironing two shirts, I am so glad that is out of the way. After eating lunch, I headed to Buon Giorno. I haven't been there since starting my new second job, and I was glad to get re-acquainted with such a great hangout. For some reason, the internet is out at the apartment, and it was "down" at the coffee shop as well. This renders me dead in the water for watching the worship service and sermon through the church's iCampus via the internet. Even though I've been up since 1:30 this morning, I decided to make an appearance. Almost immediately upon entering the building, I ran in to an acquaintance. He seemed genuinely glad to see me. We chatted for a bit, and I gave him the solemn responsibility of keeping me awake during the service should I struggle with nodding off. The trade off was I had to agree in sitting with him and a few other single adults in the balcony, instead of my usual seat on the back row of the ground floor. There were a few other people I hadn't seen in a while, and I very much enjoyed the sermon. Last Sunday, the church began a sermon series on the Reformation. The sheer history of it all is what kept me awake. I highly suggest watching the sermon series at www.ccbcfamily.org. Now I'm finally back at the apartment to call it a day and to wind down. To say I will smoke my pipes probably comes as no surprise to those of you who know me. At any rate, I am pleased with how today turned out. What a great way to start the month! Enjoy October! It is what you make of it, as well as how you perceive the circumstances around you.
